Since I started this blog, I’ve constantly been wondering how I seem to concentrate and get more writing done when I have had a cup of coffee. I have done a little research on google and I feel like I understand a little better although science was never my strong suit.
Basically the caffeine enters the brain and blocks the adenosine receptors (when adenosine levels get too high we feel drowsy). This makes us feel awake and hyperactive despite our brains trying to slow down. When this alertness is directed on one thing, like writing an article or blog for instance, our concentration intensifies and we focus on the task at hand to get things done. I hope I simplified that well enough.
However, every silver lining has a cloud my friends. Coffee is not exactly the healthiest drink there is. Too much of the stuff is linked to insomnia, high blood pressure and even heart attacks. So take this into consideration before you put that kettle on honey. Not going to lie though, I love the stuff too much to care about what I just said. #sorrynotsorry
